Virgin Media (VM) has initiated a project to undertake a series of surveys on Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) blocks pre-wired with VM services to assess the cable condition and network connectivity for the delivery of VM ultrafast broadband, TV and phone services.

The surveys will take place over a three-year period surveying selected MDU blocks with a height greater than 18m and pre-wired prior to 2015.

There will be subsequent projects based on the survey outcomes and business decisions for remediation.

Key Aspects of Delivery:

  • The survey will allow VM to evidence and assure the condition of its cabling compliance for MDUs and identify any issues for remediation
  • The surveys will also allow VM to evidence and assure the condition of network assets used to service each MDU
  • To validate the total premise count data
  • To identify any opportunities/requirements to upgrade MDU connectivity to improve sales opportunities and customer experience
  • To proactively address issues being raised by building owners regarding the condition of our cabling and network in certain MDU blocks
  • To enhance our relationship with the building owners and possibly support future wayleave requirements
  • To create a central repository holding for legacy MDUs for the use of future services and install functions
  • To validate system and cable distribution details for each MDU
  • To remediate arising issues established during surveys.

Sector: Repair and Maintenance

Key Scope: Provide technical support and maintenance; upgrade TV systems within GFSL (Gov Facility Services Limited) prison establishments

Scope of Delivery: Avonline Networks has been added to the supplier list to maintain and upgrade TV system within all GFSL, as well as providing technical support.

The currently ongoing service programme requires Avonline Networks to repair cabling infrastructure; maintain programmable head-ends and all electronic equipment; repair and upgrade all aerials and satellite dishes.

Avonline Networks also interlaces the broadcast of National Prison Radio onto these TV systems which broadcasts seven days a week, to allow relevant informed content to inmates across the 52 establishments.

Avonline Networks provides round-the-clock technical support available all days of the year. Surveys are completed by engineers with schematics and associated channel lists.
