Despite being situated throughout many of the largest cities in the UK, MDU buildings, especially larger tower blocks have some of the poorest broadband availability and penetration in the UK. When you overlay the social benefits offered by decent broadband against MDU demographics, there is a clear issue in providing vital broadband services to some of the more disadvantaged parts of the UK population.
Avonline was the first technology provider to offer broadband designed for use with existing IRS digital infrastructure using a unique broadband over copper coax, designed to complement the recent investment in digital IRS upgrades. This means a low cost per unit upgrade with minimal resident disruption and maximum use of existing investment.
Our IRSNetTM technology means that the core hardware including modem function remains at the head-end. The upgrade in the premise can be as little as 5 minutes to change a faceplate. The design also includes simple head-end-to-head-end connection using Ethernet cabling within existing riser infrastructure for the simplest upgrade path.
