Network Delivery

Avonline Networks have been building fibre, copper and coaxial network infrastructure for over 25 years.

Over this time Avonline Networks have been actively pioneering the transition from traditional copper and HFC architectures to state-of-the-art superfast fibre broadband networks bringing fibre delivery directly to the home.

Avonline Networks active involvement over several decades in this fast moving technology sector has meant that Avonline can now draw on extensive experience (about 12,000 man hours) have proven ability to adapt to change over several decades.

Avonline Networks are true turnkey specialists who pride themselves in supporting clients to deliver their projects efficiently and on time.

Civils Construction

The environment in which we now build networks for customers has changed enormously. Our team operate where there is greater emphasis on stakeholder engagement and more consideration to our environmental impact, both of which enhance the potential for future customer growth. As network expansion typically becomes more rural, working smarter with new technologies and new materials, we support our customers in adapting best practice to reduce build cost per home. Overlaying our experience to support major build programmes is an integral part of how we deliver our services.

Network build has been a core skill-set for Avonline since the early 90’s. We offer a well-developed operational structure, refined to build high quality networks, delivered to the best current safety and legislative standards across the UK. We mix experienced teams with well-managed sub-contractors and a leadership team that has been at the forefront of network delivery in the UK for thirty years.

Building modern networks requires a range of techniques. From traditional trenching methods using conventional excavators to narrow and micro trenching, to heavier trenching methods using top cutters and directional drilling. This is where our unrivalled mix of experience and flexibility means that we can deliver the right capabilities on any type of network build.

Cabling

Cabling and activation is our oldest and most established skill-set. We have delivered copper, coaxial and fibre cabling across all the major UK fixed line networks. Our teams are highly skilled in all aspects of underground and overhead techniques even landing transatlantic submarine cabling. Our teams are comfortable across a full range of skills including terminating, jointing and testing, whether on planned works or in demanding situations like disaster recovery.

Most of our cabling work is carried out and managed by our experienced in-house teams. With UK bases in Bristol and Northumberland, we provide national coverage for major cabling programmes and are trusted partners on the UK’s largest and most complex networks.

Fibre Networks

We pull it, we blow it, we hang it, we joint it, we test it – and we love it.

With an unbroken run of over 25 years of deploying, upgrading and repairing fibre networks, our senior team are widely respected and support clients across the UK. We are often to be found collaborating on new technology programmes supporting trials and new ways of building networks from overhead and underground FTTP PON/GPON networks to supporting re-segmentation programmes on copper networks to provide faster broadband speeds.

Copper Networks

Our copper work has traditionally been focussed on the complex and demanding BT network. Since the mid ‘90s we have worked with most major BT partners like Pirelli, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Carillion Telent and Morrison Utility Services as well as delivering programmes directly.

Like a famous theme song, we work underground and over ground, supporting street works and the overhead network. With such a diverse range of network architecture, experience and understanding of every aspect of this specialised environment is crucial. It enables us to complete complex work efficiently and correctly every time and for our teams to operate safely in situations where application of H&S standards is paramount.

Today Avonline teams operate across the UK, supporting network cabling, cabinet and mux work and new technology pilots like GFast.
